They haven’t started their walkthrough practice yet, and it’s already been a busy morning for the Edmonton Eskimos.

The team released return man Phillip Livas this morning, after signing him on July 2.

When the Eskimos’ depth chart was made public, things got more interesting.

Fred Stamps, who has missed a full week of practice, is backing up Shamawd Chambers at Stamps’ usual starting spot at slotback. With the team still needing to make four game day scratches, Stamps’ status will be up in the air until just before Saturday night’s 7:30 p.m. kickoff.

Marcus Howard’s removal from the roster this week is less of a surprise, having missed practice all week and being absent from Thursday’s practice. Brandon Lang will get the start at defensive end in Howard’s place and will line up alongside tackles Don Oramasionwu and Ted Laurent, with Odell Willis on the other end, coming off of a two-sack performance last week in Guelph against Hamilton.

On the offensive line, Brian Ramsay is starting at centre over Gord Hinse again and on special teams, Corbin Sharun appears to be set to make his 2013 debut, after an ACL injury sidelined him in 2012 and kept him out of the first two games of the season. Non-import DE Justin Capicciotti is also on the roster for Saturday.
